About Us
Palmetto Holsteiners, LLC is a small equine breeding farm located near Columbia, South Carolina that is owned and operated by Cody and Angela Zilhaver.  Cody is a career Army officer who for 23 years served at various postings around the world including four assignments in Germany where he met and married Angela in 1996.  Angela is from the German state of Bavaria and over the course of the last 35 years raised several horses while competing in dressage and jumping classes to the 1.35 meter level in Germany.  Since meeting Cody, Angela imported several Holsteiner horses from Germany to the United States and introduced many Holsteiners into the world through an outstanding breeding program.  Angela continues her breeding program under the mentorship of Hans Heinrich Petersen in Schleswig-Holstein, who founded Stamm 5819 over 50 years ago.  This reliable and well bred mare line produced 6 approved stallions in Europe and 4 internationally successful jumping horses.

Starting in 2017 Angela was elected to serve as a board member of the American Holsteiner Horse Association. It is a great honor for Angela and she is looking forward to helping the AHHA.

Palmetto Holsteiner’s philosophy is simple.  Our intent is to create high performing equine athletes according to the German Holsteiner Verband standards.
